Plants
There are thousands of plants to choose from when landscaping, and using the right plants is critical to long term success. Some plants are quite hardy and will survive a large range of conditions, others are delicate and need a particular stable environment. Botanescapes uses only plants that will grow well in each situation. Many plants are not a suitable choice because of their eventual size, special needs, having invasive root systems, or being toxic to animals or children.

Plants and Frost
When it comes to plants surviving a cold night microclimates within the yard play a large role. For example, a plant located near a tree trunk that blocks cool breezes may survive unscathed while the same plant a few feet away will be damaged. Any walls, trees, patio covers,...etc. will provide additional protection. A South facing exposure will warm up more during the day than a North, East or West exposure giving some plants the benefit of warming even a few more degrees. Proximity to nearby hills or valleys determines the way air currents will influence air temperatures in your yard. Because of this a yard only a few blocks away will experience different temperatures.
